Our client, SteelSeries, recently announced the availability of the SteelSeries Nova 5 in Malaysia first and looking to reach out Malaysia media.
Putting on my customer/media focused hat, I did some research to identify additional game media in Malaysia and put them on the mailing list for the press release.
As a result of this research, we identified Geekception by Emmanuel – a Nigerian YouTuber based in Malaysia. A check on his YouTube channel showed he regularly review gaming related accessories and the SteelSeries Nova 5 would be the perfect match with him.
After sending the press release, Emmanuel replied and requested for a unit for review with the condition of a keeper unit. We shared this with the client and they agreed to this.
As a result, we got an earned media of an unboxing video. When I shared with a fellow colleague, he said the production was like as it was done inhouse for marketing purposes.
Researching on the media and sending them a relevant press release helps to increase the chance of coverage.
